Dr. Wing-cheong Leung

Dr. Leung is currently Chief-of-Service and Consultant Obstetrician of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Kwong Wah Hospital, Honorary Clinical Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong. He is Past President of the Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. 

Dr. Leung graduated from the medical school of The University of Hong Kong in 1989. He completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Tsan Yuk Hospital and Queen Mary Hospital and was conferred a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) in 1997.

Thereafter, he subspecialised in maternal fetal medicine and underwent overseas training in the Perinatal Centre, University of Toronto, Canada in 1999 and the Fetal Medicine Centre, University College London, UK in 2002-2003. He became an accredited subspecialist in maternal fetal medicine by RCOG (UK) in 2003 (the first in HK) and by Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2005. He got his MD (HK) in 2010 with the thesis titled: Rapid aneuploidy testing or traditional karyotyping, or both, in prenatal diagnosis.

His research interests include public funded new algorithms for prenatal screening and diagnosis (clinical application and counselling), management and audit of massive postpartum haemorrhage, future obstetric care models, mother-baby-friendly childbirth, social obstetrics, association of domestic violence in pregnancy with cord blood telomere length, and provision of expert opinions for medicolegal cases. He has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed local and international journals.
