JCIMED’s Strategic Support: Competency-Based Medical Education in Hong Kong
The Jockey Club Institute for Medical and Development to advance medical education through a
(JCIMED) and Hong Kong College of Radiologists (HKCR) comprehensive two-part approach. Participants first
have successfully launched an innovative completed standardised foundational modules
Workplace-Based Assessment (WBA) course, developed by JCIMED, followed by college-specific
generously supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club content tailored to the unique needs of the Radiology
Charities Trust. specialty.
This great initiative engaged a total of 47 medical Key objectives of the programme included integrating
professionals, including trainers in Vascular and advanced assessment methodologies, enhancing
Interventional Radiology, first-year trainees in Higher faculty development, and focusing on direct

Conducted over two half-day sessions on 9 March 2025
and 16 March 2025, the programme represents a
significant milestone in competency-based medical
education (CBME). It demonstrates a collaborative
approach to professional development, showcasing the
potential for innovative educational strategies in
medical training.
The course not only addresses the immediate
educational needs of Radiology professionals but also
sets a promising precedent for future interdisciplinary
medical education initiatives.
