WHO WPRO’S VISIT
TO THE ACADEMY
On 12 March 2025, Dr. Saia Ma’u Piukala (fifth
left), Regional Director for the World Health
Organization Regional Office for the Western
Pacific (WHO WPRO), and Dr. Liu Yue (third
left), Executive Officer of the Division of
Programme Management at WHO WPRO,
visited the Academy. During their visit, they
met with the Academy Officers to exchange
views and deepen understanding of latest
developments and potential areas for
collaboration, particularly in capacity building
for healthcare practitioners in public health
and emergency response.
THANKSGIVING EVENT
ON ORGAN DONATION
A thanksgiving event titled ‘ײԸ፷ଃऀेޒࡌ ड
ଃऀهӬࡏ’ was held on 23 March 2025,
co-organised by the Academy and the Hong
Kong Society of Transplantation, to honour and
express gratitude to organ donors and to
recognise the life-changing impact of organ
transplantation.
ACP INTERNAL MEDICINE
MEETING 2025
President Prof. Philip Li was invited to
participate in two key events during the
American College of Physicians (ACP) Internal
Medicine Meeting, held from 3 to 5 April 2025
in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.
He took part in the Convocation Ceremony
th
and served as a panellist at the 18 ACP
Global Forum Panel themed ‘Responding to
Changes in the Internal Medicine Workforce:
A Global Perspective’. Participants included
global leaders of academies and colleges.
During this Forum, four themes were
highlighted for discussion among panel
members: Fragmentation in Internal Medicine
Specialty and Growing Sub-specialisation;
Physician Safety and Well-being; Collective
Empowerment by Physicians; and Expanding
Career Opportunities. Prof. Li shared the
experiences of Hong Kong in these areas
which had aroused a lot of interest among
panel participants.
