Overview

Overseeing the provision of specialist training and Continuing Medical Education, the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine brings to the community the very best medical expertise available in the world, today and tomorrow......

A Life-long Lesson

Medical advancement calls for constant update of knowledge for doctors in practice. Upon completion of the Academy's own headquarters, functional seminar halls, lecture rooms and theatres are established, advancing the continuing education and professional development of our specialists.

The Academy Colleges

The upsurge of specialisation in medicine encourages branching of the profession. Fifteen constituent specialty Colleges and 68 specialties are currently contained within the Academy, all of which run their own structured training programs.

Training and Qualifying Examinations

Six years of supervised specialist training are carefully monitored. The Colleges hold both intermediate and final examinations for their trainees individually or jointly with an established Royal College. Passing the final examination is a prerequisite to Fellowship of the Academy.

Education Center

With state-of-the-art audio-visual and teleconferencing equipment, a Grand Hall that can accommodate up to 400 guests, lecture theatres and examination rooms combine to create a perfect platform for medical practitioners to learn, teach and meet.

HKAM Headquarters

The Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building is a massive project worth over two hundred and forty million dollars at Wong Chuk Hang on Island south. It is the home of the Academy's head office and that of the fifteen Colleges.

The Hub of Our Profession

The Academy premises also houses head offices of other medical bodies including the Medical and Dental Councils of Hong Kong. Its vast floor area is specially designed for the holding of large conferences, symposia and other professional functions, thereby encouraging the exchange of expertise among medical contemporaries.
