2012 Annual Subscriptions
Demand notes for the 2012 subscriptions have been sent to Fellows. Please be reminded that it is Council's policy that subscriptions received by the Academy after 30 June will be subject to a surcharge of 5% on the subscription amount. Please settle your subscription as soon as possible. Fellows aged over 70, or have reached 70 before the beginning of the next subscription year, do not need to pay any subscription and will not receive a debit note. For Fellows who have authorized payment via bank transfer, payments will be deducted from their bank accounts automatically.
Expert Witness Training Course
The Academy of Experts (AoE) will run several Expert Witness Training Courses in Hong Kong in March. The HKAM Council has agreed to be supporting organization for this course. Interested Fellows can download the Course Information and Registration Form here.

Representation/Appointment
The Academy President, Prof. Raymond Liang, was recently appointed by the Government as a member of the Steering Committee on Strategic Review on Healthcare Manpower Planning and Development.
Dr. Donald Li, Vice President (General Affairs), was appointed Advisor to the Society of General Practice of the Chinese Medical Association. This is the official general practice society recognized by the Ministry of Health and a member of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA).

National Qualification Examination in the Mainland
Under the CEPA arrangements, registered doctors in Hong Kong who are permanent Hong Kong residents are eligible to take the National Qualification Examination in the Mainland (國家醫師資格考試).
Applications to sit for the 2012 National Qualification Examination are now called for by the National Medical Examination Center of the People’s Republic of China. All applicants for this year’s examination are required to submit their applications online. Details and the application form are available on the website of the National Medical Examination Center at http://www.nmec.org.cn. The closing date is 15 March 2012. Applicants who have already submitted their applications online before the closing date are required to submit the supporting documents in person to the Medical Council Secretariat for vetting and onward submission to the National Medical Examination Center on or before 28 March 2012.
General information on the National Qualification Examination is available on the websites of the National Medical Examination Center at www.nmec.org.cn and the Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China at www.moh.gov.cn respectively. Applicants may also visit the website of the Medical Council of Hong Kong for the guidance in completing the application form online. "Primary Care - Family Doctor as Your Health Partner" (基層醫療 - 各有所「醫」專題比賽) (6 February - 19 May 2012)
The Primary Care Office of the Department of Health, together with the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians, have organised a themed competition entitled "Primary Care - Family Doctor as Your Health Partner" (基層醫療 - 各有所「醫」專題比賽) aiming to raise the awareness of the general public about the importance of primary care and the family doctor concept.
Participants of the competition can submit an entry in any form, such as short video clip, photo, poster, slogan, reflective journal, or project, with an aim to bring out the message about primary care and family doctor in an attractive way. Champion of the competition for both the open group and the secondary school students group can each receive a $5000 electrical appliance coupon, a certificate and/or a trophy.

HKIIC2012: 中醫老年醫學 Chinese Medicine in Geriatrics
The Hospital Authority and the Hong Kong Association for Integration of Chinese-Western Medicine (HKAIM) are jointly organising the Hong Kong International Integrative Medicine Conference 2012. The conference will be on “Chinese Medicine in Geriatrics” and the primary aim of the conference is to promote the scientific prescription of Chinese medicinal herbs in the elderly with common chronic illnesses, and to foster collaborative research in the many related clinical and pre-clinical areas.
