2012 Honours List
The Government announced this year's Honours List on 1 July 2012. A number of Academy Fellows are on the List. Prof. Gabriel Leung and Prof. Felice Lieh-Mak (current Education Committee Member) have been awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS). Prof. Chow Shew Ping (former Council Member) and Dr. Lam Ping Yan have been awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS). Prof. Lam Tai Hing (former Council Member), Dr. Julian Chang Wai and Dr. Hung Se Fong (current Council Member) have been awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS). Congratulations to all the recipients.
46th Malaysia-Singapore Congress of Medicine
A delegation from the Academy consisting of the Academy President, presidents and representative of six Colleges (Anaesthesiologists, O&G, Paediatricians, Pathologists, Radiologists, Surgeons), and Chief Executive Officer attended the 46th MSCM in Kuala Lumpur on 12-14 July 2012. It is an annual congress hosted by Academy of Medicine of Malaysia and Academy of Medicine, Singapore. HKAM was invited to participate since 2004. Prof. Alice Kong, who was nominated by HKAM to be a speaker at the Congress, delivered a plenary lecture on "Diabetes - Prevent the Preventables". The presidents of HKAM and Colleges also attended a joint Council meeting among the three academies during the Congress.

Medicine and the media - public interest or private matters The Academy and Medical Protection Society (MPS) jointly invite you to this seminar. Medical news are popular features in both print and electronic news media. Medicine-media interactions have become more critical. The seminar will discuss media issues, which include the Press (newspapers, journals) as well as television and radio, from various perspectives. Experts from media, legal and medical fields will share their experience and views with participants. The seminar is free of charge for Fellows and trainees but registration is required. 2nd AMM-AMS-HKAM Tripartite Congress / 47th Singapore-Malaysia Congress of Medicine
The 2nd AMM-AMS-HKAM Tripartite Congress and 47th SMCM will be held in Singapore on 23-24 August 2013. The three Academies in Hong Kong (HKAM), Malaysia (AMM) and Singapore (AMS) agreed to have tripartite congress in every three years starting from 2010. The first tripartite congress was hosted by HKAM and successfully held in Hong Kong in 2010.
