2012 Annual Subscriptions Demand notes for the 2012 subscriptions have been sent to Fellows. Please be reminded that it is Council's policy that subscriptions received by the Academy after 30 June will be subject to a surcharge of 5% on the subscription amount. Please settle your subscription as soon as possible. Fellows aged over 70, or have reached 70 before the beginning of the next subscription year, do not need to pay any subscription and will not receive a debit note. For Fellows who have authorized payment via bank transfer, payments will be deducted from their bank accounts automatically. |
Medical Manpower Presentation at HA Convention
Dr. Donald Li, Vice President and Chairman of Medical Manpower Planning Committee of the Academy, presented the paper on Manpower planning and training which was a summary of observation and points gathered through the meetings of the Medical Manpower Planning Committee of HKAM at the Hospital Convention on 8 May 2012. Dr. Li has expressed his thanks to the members of the committee for their hard work during the past year.

Prize for Best Original Research by Trainees The Prize for Best Original Research by Trainees of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine recognizes excellence in research done by doctors who are in specialist training. Submission deadline for the year 2012 award is 31 July 2012 (postmark). Interested trainee doctors can download the following documents (PDF and MS Word format) for reference and use. |
Resuscitation Council of Hong Kong
Four Academy Colleges, namely, Anaesthesiologists, Emergency Medicine, Family Physicians and Surgeons, have participated in the formation of the Resuscitation Council of Hong Kong (RCHK). The inauguration was held in May 2012. Dr Chow Yu-fat, president of the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists, was elected Chairman of the RCHK.

Following the success of the first Hong Kong Primary Care Conference (HKPCC), The Hong Kong College of Family Physicians is honoured to host and organize this landmark conference again on 2-3 June 2012 (Sat - Sun). The conference will take place at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building, Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong. Our theme this year is "United We Care: Forging Partnerships in Health", with a focus on strengthening collaborations among health care professionals across different sectors to enhance primary care provision to our community.
This conference will feature an exciting blend of plenary sessions, workshops, seminars, paper and oral presentations. The 25th Fellowship Conferment Ceremony The College is holding "The 25th Fellowship Conferment Ceremony and the 23rd Dr. Sun Yat Sen Oration" on 3 June 2012 (Sunday) at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building. The successful candidates of Conjoint Examination would be conferred Fellowships; and the successful candidates of Diploma in Family Medicine and the Exit Examination would be granted certificates. In this very important occasion, Professor LEE Sum Ping, Dean of Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, would deliver the 23rd Dr. Sun Yat Sen Oration to the audience. All College Fellows*, members and their spouses are cordially invited to attend the Conferment Ceremony and the Oration. The 2nd IDKD (An Interactive Course in Diagnostic Imaging) Intensive Course in Hong Kong, 16-19 June 2012 The 2nd IDKD (International Diagnostic Course Davos) Intensive Course in Hong Kong, in collaboration with The University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong College of Radiologists, will be held on 16-19 June 2012 at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. This intensive course, featuring 14 different workshops spread over 3 1/2 days, covering imaging of important diseases of the abdomen and pelvis. HKIIC2012: 中醫老年醫學 Chinese Medicine in Geriatrics The Hospital Authority and the Hong Kong Association for Integration of Chinese-Western Medicine (HKAIM) are jointly organising the Hong Kong International Integrative Medicine Conference 2012. The conference will be on "Chinese Medicine in Geriatrics" and the primary aim of the conference is to promote the scientific prescription of Chinese medicinal herbs in the elderly with common chronic illnesses, and to foster collaborative research in the many related clinical and pre-clinical areas. Multi-disciplinary Conference and Exhibition on Child Health Date: 17-19th Aug 2012
These would be the highlights for the 50th Anniversary Celebration on Child Health. Both the Conference and Banquet will be held at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine at Wong Chuk Hang.
