Symposium on Postgraduate Training

The recent Doctor Work Reform implemented by the Hospital Authority in Hong Kong has brought up the issue whether the reduction in work hours of doctors would have impact on quality of training. Before finding this out, the Academy will need to develop and validate a competency assessment framework, which is contingent upon defining the outcomes of training. The work hour reduction also prompts the Academy to think about how best to train a specialist in the limited time available, and whether curriculum revisions would be necessary in due course. In this context, the Academy has decided to organise a Workshop bringing these issues up for discussion and invited overseas experts in medical education of specialists to participate so that the Academy can take reference from international developments on the scientific approach to training of specialist doctors. This workshop is for representatives from Academy Colleges, Hospital Authority, Health & Food Bureau, the two medical schools, Medical Council and Dental Council only. In order to also allow Fellows to know more about the international trend of postgraduate medical training, the Academy will hold a symposium on the subject, which is open to all Fellows. This symposium will be arranged as a session of the WONCA Asia-Pacific Regional Conference hosted by Hong Kong College of Family Physicians (HKCFP). It is free of charge for Fellows but registration is required. Please download the registraton form here.
