2008-2010 CME/CPD Cycle

The current CME/CPD cycle for Academy Fellows will end on 31 December 2007.   As reported earlier, number of points obtained by means of passive participation will be capped at 75 for a cycle, effective from 1 January 2008.  Fellows are reminded to take note of this for the coming cycle.  Fellows can click below to obtain a copy of the Academy's CMECPD Guidelines.  For individual College guidelines, Fellows should contact their Colleges.

Since the existing cycle will end in a few months time, Fellows are reminded to make sure they will obtain the required number of CME/CPD points before the end of this year, and to catch up if the points they have obtained so far fall short of the requirements.  Fellows who are on the Specialist Register (SR) of the Medical Council or Dental Council will need to fulfil the requirements of the Academy to remain on the SR.  Fellows, except those exempted for CME/CPD due to retirement, are also required to fulfil the requirements to maintain the Academy Fellowship.

2011-2013 CME/CPD Cycle

For the CME/CPD cycle starting 1 January 2011, on top of changes for 2008.  Fellows would be strongly encouraged to (a) maintain a balanced CME/CPD profile with a mix of different activities, including 5 points in a cycle from activities in quality assurance audits and activities for improvement of patient care in order to capture the full benefit of different types of CME/CPD activities; and (b) increase further the CME/CPD points gained from activities other than passive participation through decreasing the proportion of passive participation CME/CPD activities.  Fellows will receive further detailed information from the Academy shortly.

Academy Policy on Reduced Subscription Rates

Fellows are requested to note that reduced rates (retired, overseas) will be effective from the next subscription year after submission of an application.  Eligible Fellows should therefore submit their applications before 31 December 2007 if they wish to enjoy the reduced rates in year 2008.   Details of the policy can be found in the Fellows Area of the Academy website.
