Discussion Forum: From CME to CPD (30 September 2006) Fellows may be aware from the news and publications of the Academy that the Education Committee has been considering the move to CPD for quite a long time. After years of discussion, the Academy Council has agreed in principle to move forward to CPD in stages. Before proceeding further, the Academy would like to explain to Fellows about the rationale and the details of the change and listen to Fellows' views on the proposed move. A forum was held on 30 September 2006. Fellows who were unable to attend can click below to view the presentation at the forum. A web discussion forum has now been created at the iCMECPD, Fellows who wish to express their views please go to the iCMECPD website (www.icmecpd.hk). Awards The Academy President Prof Grace Tang was conferred Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Australia on 7 May 2006. Health Manpower Survey The
Department of Health has requested the Academy to help remind Fellows that
the 2006 Health Manpower Survey (HMS) has started.
The HMS aims to collect up-to-date information on the size,
characteristics and employment status of healthcare personnel to
facilitate the development and planning of health workforce in
Research Fund for the Control of Infectious Diseases (RFCID) / Health and Health Services Research Fund (HHSRF) The RFCID and HHSRF have issued a joint call for research
grant applications. The closing date
is 15 November 2006. Full details of
the research priorities, application guidelines and application forms are
available from the website of the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau.
