Children Art Course at the Academy Lounge

Children art course will be organized at the Academy Lounge.  The class is for kids aged 4 to 9.  According to previous experience, interest classes for kids are usually fully booked very soon.  Please register your place as quick as possible.  Please click below for details.

 


 

e-Knowledge Gateway (eKG) at the Academy Library

The Academy has made arrangement with the Hospital Authority to extend its exclusive electronic Knowledge Gateway (eKG) to Academy Fellows at the Academy Library.  Fellows can access the eKG free-of-charge via Internet at the Leung Kau Kui Medical Library of the Academy starting 11 November 2004.  The service will be initially provided for 1 year, until 10 November 2005.  Fellows who wish to log onto eKG at home or in their office could apply to HA for an individual account.  Please click below for application details.

 


 

Academy Policy on Reduced Subscription Rates

Fellows are requested to note that reduced rates (retired, overseas) will be effective from the next subscription year after submission of an application.  Eligible Fellows should therefore submit their applications before 31 December 2004 if they wish to enjoy the reduced rates in year 2005.   Details of the policy can be found in the Fellows Area of the Academy website.

 


 

Sychronisation of CME Cycles

As reported previously, Council has decided that all Fellows would start their CME cycle afresh on 1 January 2005.   All existing cycles will end on 31 December 2004.  Fellows are reminded to make sure they can obtain the necessary CME points before the existing cycles end.  Please consult your College should you have any query.

 


 

MOU Signing Ceremony

The Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Health of the Macau SAR Government on 8 October 2004 in Macau.

Through the Memorandum, the Academy of Medicine will at the invitation of the Macau Department of Health assist in the assessment of specialists in Macau in the public medical services.  The Memorandum also offers the doctors and dentists access to the Membership and Learning Management System (MLMS) of the Academy.

Dr. Koi Kuok Ieng, Director of Department of Health represented the Macau SAR Government, and Dr. C.H. Leong, President of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine represented the Academy at the signing ceremony witnessed by Dr. Chui Sai On, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Macau SAR Government.

 


 

 

 

11th Annual General Meeting

The 11th AGM of the Academy will be held on 17 December 2004 at 5:30 pm at the Lim Por Yen Lecture Theatre.  The David Todd Oration, Fellowship conferment ceremony and presentations of the Best Original Research by Trainees competition will be held on the same day.   Prof. Rosie Young has kindly agreed to be this year’s orator for the David Todd Oration, she will speak on “A reflection on SARS – one year on”.
