Council Election

Seven nominations were received by the deadline.  Two nominees have subsequently withdrawn their nomination.  The remaining five candidates will therefore be elected ipso facto and the scheduled postal ballot will be cancelled.  Details of the elected members will be announced in due course.

 

 


 

HKAM's 3rd Intercollegiate Scientific Meeting

The Academy’s third intercollegiate scientific meeting will be held on 25 February 2006 in conjunction with the Halnan Lecture.  The Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food has agreed to be the speaker for the Halnan Lecture.  More details of the Scientific Meeting will be announced in coming months.  

 


 

Renewal of MOU with Department of Health, Macao SAR Government

The Academy and the Department of Health, Macao SAR Government have agreed to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which was signed last year, for another year.  Under this MOU, the Academy will through its specialty Colleges provide accreditation assessment for specialists in Macao and also provide for doctors and dentists in Macao to have access to the CME/CPD network of the Academy.

 

 


 

Awards

The Academy is delighted to announce that Dr. Donald Li, Immediate Past President of Hong Kong College of Family Physicians, was conferred the Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in Darwin Australia on 29th September 2005.

2005 Health Manpower Survey

The Department of Health has requested the Academy to help remind Fellows that the 2005 Health Manpower Survey (HMS) has started.  The HMS aims to collect up-to-date information on the size, characteristics and employment status of healthcare personnel to facilitate the development and planning of health workforce in Hong Kong .  Self-administered questionnaires will be sent together with the letters for renewal of practising certificates to all doctors in Hong Kong .  The deadline for submission of questionnaire is 31 December 2005.  For more information and enquires, please visit http://www.info.gov.hk/dh/health_new
