Amendment to HKAM Regulation

As reported last month, the proposal to delete Regulation 9(3), which states that no Fellows shall serve on the Council for a continuous period of more than 8 years, was passed by a postal ballot.  The proposed amendment was submitted to and approved by the Legislative Council on 3 July 2002. 

Tenth Anniversary of the Academy

Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the Academy.  There will be a series of celebration activities.  Details will be announced in due course.

Introduction and Utilization of “New” Treatment Modalities

Council has endorsed a position paper on “The Role and the Responsibility of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in the Introduction and Utilization of “New” Treatment Modalities in Hong Kong”.  The paper will be sent to the Government.  Interested Fellows can download a copy of the paper at this link.

• New Treatment Modalities

The MLMS development is in its final stage.  Council decided to start with five Colleges as a pilot run.  Fellows will receive more information from the Academy shortly.
