Fee Concession - 2008 Subscriptions

As recommended by the Finance and Investment Committee, Council decided to approve a one-off 50% reduction of the annual subscription for one year to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Academy in 2008.  Council also agreed to offer some discounts to the 15 Colleges for renting venues at the Academy building.  Below are some details:

Contribution of CME/CPD Materials from CUHK

Last year, 27 videos of Advances in Medicine lectures were contributed by the CUHK and uploaded to iCMECPD for e-learning purpose.  This year, the CUHK is going to contribute the lecture videos to the Academy again for Fellows to view the lectures online at the iCMECPD website.  Details will be
announced in the forthcoming news.

The Academy would like to express its gratitude again to Prof. Joseph Sung and the University for their generous contribution and continuous support.

Collaboration with the Royal Society of Medicine

The Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) has recently sent a proposal to the Academy, offering to let HKAM Fellows use RSM's services and facilities such as their club, guest rooms, library, and online CPD.  Council discussed and agreed that the Academy could in turn offer RSM members to use its facilities and services when they visit Hong Kong for mutual benefit.  The details would be worked out soon and a Memorandum of Understanding might be signed between the two organisations.

Admission of Fellows

A total of 127 new Fellows were admitted at the extraordinary general meeting held on 21 June 2007.

Election of Council Members

The term of office of the 5 elected/co-opted Council member will expire at the conclusion of this year’s annual general meeting.  Election process will start in July, and results will be announced at the AGM to be held in December 2007.

CME/CPD Reminder

The current CME/CPD cycle for Academy Fellows will end on 31 December 2007.   All Fellows who are on the Specialist Register (SR) of the Medical Council or Dental Council will need to fulfill the requirements of the Academy to remain on the SR.  Fellows, except those exempted for CME/CPD due to retirement, are also required to fulfill the requirements to maintain the Academy Fellowship.   Fellows are reminded to make sure they will obtain the required number of CME/CPD points before the end of this year, and to catch up if the points they have obtained so far fall short of the requirements greatly.
