Amendment to HKAM Regulations

The voting for a postal ballot to delete Regulation 9(3), which states that no Fellows shall serve on the Council for a continuous period of more than 8 years, closed on 4 June 2002.  The Academy’s auditor counted the votes on 5 June 2002.  The results are as follows:

Total number of Fellows as of May 2002: 3771
Ballots returned and counted: 1136 (over 1/5 of all Fellows)

Valid:

784 (over 2/3 of those who voted)

Invalid: 18 (indication of vote unclear)

The motion to delete Regulation 9(3) was carried.

A formal proposal will be submitted by the Health & Welfare bureau to the Legislative Council for consideration and endorsement.  Fellows will be informed of the final outcome in due course.

As stated in the Honorary Secretary’s covering letter to the ballot papers, the Academy’s Constitutions Committee has also reviewed other parts of the Academy’s constitutions.  Some are now being scrutinized by the Health and Welfare Bureau.  Once the wordings of the proposed amendments have been finalized by the Law Draftsmen, another postal ballot will be conducted to pass the proposals.

Renovation on 3/F of the Academy Building

Renovation works for the library and other facilities on 3/F are under progress.  In order to maximize the use of the facilities while keeping costs and expenditure under control, a survey will be conducted to collect input for operation planning.  Fellows will receive a questionnaire shortly.






HKAM Golf Tournament 2002

The HKAM Golf Tournament 2002 has been scheduled for 20 December 2002 (Friday).  The tournament will be held at the Eden Course of the Hong Kong Golf Club.  Details will be announced later.
