Visit
to
Beijing
The 18-person delegation of the Academy including
the President, Vice-President (Education & Exams), Past President, Honorary
Treasurer, an elected Council member, representatives from 13
Academy
Colleges
and the General Secretary, visited Beijing
from 11th to 14th April.
Besides attending the 90th
Anniversary and the 23rd National Representative Meeting of the
Chinese Medical Association
(CMA), the delegation had
meetings with the Vice Chairman of the Standing
Committee of National People’s Congress,
the Ministry of Health, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs
Office of the State Council, Chinese
Academy
of Engineering
(CAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences
(CAS), Chinese Academy of Medical
Sciences (CAMS)
& Peking Union Medical College
(PUMC), Peking
Union Medical College Hospital
(PUMCH), Beijing
United Family Hospital &
Clinics
(BUFHC), and the Association
of Medical Universities & Colleges in China.
During the 4-day visit, the Academy delegation had fruitful discussion
and exchanged views with these organizations on various topics including
specialist registration system, exchange programmes on training and CME. Planning is underway
for the various activities where the Academy and its Colleges shall play
essential roles for the first time.

General Meeting – 16 June 2005
Council has decided to hold an EGM on 16 June 2005
to admit new Fellows. The EGM will
be held at 7:00 pm at the Council Chamber, 10/F HKAM Jockey Club Building,

Medical
Manpower Planning
Majority of Colleges have submitted their
manpower plans to the Academy. The
Academy’s Medical Manpower Planning Committee chaired by the Vice-President
(General Affairs) will hold a meeting to discuss.
Awards
The
Academy would like to congratulate Dr. Stephen Foo, Honorary Treasurer of the
Academy, on his being awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Academy of Family
Physicians of Malaysia (AFPM) in April 2005.
Another Fellow of the Academy, Dr. Peter Lee, also received this honour
from the AFPM.

Annual Subscriptions
Fellows
are reminded that their 2005
Annual Subscriptions are due on 1 January 2005.
Fellows should have
received
a demand note from either the Academy or their College.
Please be reminded that it is the
Council’s
policy that subscriptions received by the Academy after 30 June will be subject
to a surcharge of 5% on the subscription amount.
Please settle your subscription as soon as possible.
