Visit
to
Beijing
As
reported in earlier Academy News, the Academy will organize visit to
Beijing
for deeper collaboration in training and medical education with medical
organizations on the Mainland. The
Academy delegation, consisting of the President, Vice-President (Edu. &
Exams.), Past Academy President, Presidents of Colleges and elected Council
members, will visit
Beijing
from 11 to 14 April. The Academy
delegation will visit the Ministry of Health,
Chinese
Academy
of Engineering,
Chinese
Academy
of Sciences,
Peking
Union
Medical
College, and the Association of Medical Universities and Colleges in
China
. Academy representatives will
also attend the 90th anniversary functions of the Chinese Medical
Association.

has decided to hold an EGM on 16 June 2005 to admit new Fellows.

Manpower Planning
The President and the two Vice Presidents met with
the Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food on 5 February 2005.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the Academy through its Colleges
would make recommendations on optimal number of specialists required for
different specialties in
Hong Kong
. Academy Colleges are now working
on this.

Annual Scientific Meeting, 24 April 2005
The theme for this year’s Annual Scientific
Meeting is “Challenges and Opportunities
in Community medicine”.

The Fellowship Conferment
Ceremony of the College follows immediately after the Annual Scientific Meeting.
To honour Dr EK Yeoh’s
distinguished public health service to the
Hong Kong
community and his outstanding achievements as
a leader in health and health services, the College has created the EK
Yeoh Oration,
and Dr Yeoh will deliver the
first oration entitled “ Health for all
– the missing links”. Members from all Colleges are also welcome to
attend the ceremony and the oration.

Annual Subscriptions
Fellows
are reminded that their 2005
Annual Subscriptions are due on 1 January 2005.
Fellows should have
received
a demand note from either the Academy or their College.
Please be reminded that it is the
Council’s
policy that subscriptions received by the Academy after 30 June will be subject
to a surcharge of 5% on the subscription amount.
Please settle your subscription as soon as possible.
