Dr.
Keith Halnan
The Academy regrets to inform Fellows that
sadly, Dr. Keith Halnan passed away on 6 February 2006. Fellows
may be aware that Dr. Halnan
was appointed by the Hong Kong Government as the Chairman of the Working
Party on Postgraduate Medical Education & Training in 1986.
And the Academy was established based on the recommendation of a formal
report, which is widely known as the ˇ§Halnan Reportˇ¨, published by that
Working Party in October 1988.
An obituary of Dr. Halnan will be published in the coming issue of Hong
Kong Medical Journal.

Extraordinary
General Meeting ˇV 15 June 2006
Council has decided to hold an EGM
on 15 June 2006 to admit new Fellows. The
EGM will be held at 7:30 pm at the Council Chamber, 10/F HKAM Jockey Club
Building, 99 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Aberdeen, Hong Kong. A formal
EGM notice will be circulated to Fellows in May.

HKAM Medico-Legal Seminar Series 2006 - Laws that
doctors may find useful to know
The Academy organised
a medico-legal seminar in April 2005 and was well received by many Fellows.
This year, the Academy has again invited partners of Johnson Stokes & Master to
deliver a seminar series on medico-legal issues. Details
of the seminar series to be held in April 2006 can be found in the Registration
Form.
Registration is
limited and on a first-come-first-served basis. Interested Fellows please
complete the Form and return it to the Academy on or before 25 March 2006.

2006 Annual Subscriptions
Fellows
are reminded that their 2006 Annual Subscriptions are
due on 1 January 2006. Fellows should
receive a demand note from either the Academy or their College.
Please be reminded that it is Councilˇ¦s policy that subscriptions
received by the Academy after 30 June will
be subject to a surcharge of 5% on the subscription amount.
Please settle your subscription as soon as possible.
