HKAM’s 3rd Intercollegiate Scientific Meeting

The Academy's third intercollegiate scientific meeting will be held on 25 February 2006 in conjunction with the Halnan Lecture. The theme is "Disaster: how well prepared are we?" HKAM Medico-Legal Seminar Series 2006 - Laws that doctors may find useful to know

The Academy organised a medico-legal seminar in April 2005 and was well received by many Fellows. This year, the Academy has invited partners of Johnson Stokes & Master to deliver a seminar series on medico-legal issues again in April 2006. Details of the seminar series can be found in the Registration Form.

Registration is limited and on a first-come-first served basis. Interested Fellows please complete the Form and return it to the Academy on or before 25 March 2006.

Visit of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland

The Royal College has recently visited Hong Kong to form its Hong Kong Chapter. Dr. McKenna, President of RCPI, Dr. McElvaney, Registrar of RCPI, Dr. John Gallagher, Dean of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of RCPI and Mr. Jonathan Bailey, Secretary of RCPI took the chance to meet the Academy President and Vice President (Edu. & Exams.) on 14 January 2006. During the meeting, the two parties shared their experience regarding implementation of continuous professional development, and other topics of common interest.

Visit of Prof. HAN Qide

The Academy President hosted a dinner for Prof. HAN Qide, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress visited the Academy on 16 January 2006. Prof. HAN was given a brief introduction of the Academy during a short meeting prior to the dinner.

Award

The Academy President Prof. Grace Tang was conferred Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in Hong Kong on 15 January 2006. The Royal College held the Inauguration of their Hong Kong Chapter on the same day.

2006 Annual Subscriptions

Fellows are reminded that their 2006 Annual Subscriptions are due on 1 January 2006. Fellows should receive a demand note from either the Academy or their College. Please be reminded that it is Council’s policy that subscriptions received by the Academy after 30 June will be subject to a surcharge of 5% on the subscription amount. Please settle your subscription as soon as possible.

Gong Xi Fa Cai

The Academy wishes all Fellows a prosperous year in the Year of the Dog! The Dining Room and Academy Lounge will be closed on Saturday, 28 January 2006 and be opened on Monday, 6 February 2006.
